Baron (seit 1648) Fairfax of Cameron ['kæmərən], englischer General, * Denton (bei Bradford) 17. 1. 1612, ✝ Nun Appleton Hall (bei York) 12. 11. 1671; erfocht als Oberbefehlshaber der »New Model Army« (Parlamentstruppen) am 14. 6. 1645 den Sieg bei Naseby über das Heer der Royalisten. 1648/49 weigerte er sich jedoch, am Todesurteil gegen Karl I. mitzuwirken, und wandte sich gegen Pläne, die Republik einzuführen. Fairfax trat 1650 zurück und wirkte ab 1659 für die Restauration des Königtums.
